Storm Safety

 January 21, 2016

Blizzard watch now in effect for Monmouth County. Conditions will begin to deteriorate throughout the day tomorrow with snow beginning in the southern portion of the state around the evening commute and progressing up the coast with Monmouth starting around 12 midnight. This will be a large snow event with 12-20 inches accumulating. Storm may start and end as rain along the coast which will result in less snow totals (Rain may extend inland a few miles). Snow will initially be light and puffy, but will change to heavy wet- The change will lessen the blowing and drifting. Wind gusts along the coast will be 50-60 MPH and 40 MPH inland- and will begin around 12 midnight Friday. Storm is slow moving and will end by Sunday morning. While there will be moderate to major flooding in some areas, Monmouth is forecasted to be at Minor levels. Temperatures will be near or above normal after the storm passes
